Maria Morabito

Building 7  Floor 2  Studio 6

My art is my way to make sense of the world. I use abstraction to combine perception and imagination to explore themes of connectivity as relates to nature, cultural landscapes, and cultural identity. My artworks are the result of a continuous dialogue occurring throughout my process.

In my paintings, I seek to explore the coexistence of contrasting and complementary colors, organic and geometric shapes, and delicate and bold motifs. My ongoing series of painting focus on architectural forms and urban environments as centers of human interactions, innovation, and creativity.

My sculptures explore themes of volume and line in space, organic and geometric forms, and the visual potentials of materials. I am driven to produce sculptures that are informed by my interest in assembling elements to build new forms. While each work stands independently, I also view these works as springboards for future large-scale sculptures and public art installations.
