Event Information
The artists of Erector Square have organized to continue the annual tradition of Open Studios with a vibrant celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Erector Square complex and its creative history. During the two-day event the artists will have their studio doors open to the public where visitors can talk to the artists about their work, see work in progress, and learn about the creative process. All ages can participate and be introduced to a variety of art forms and media, including painting, collage, sculpture, printmaking, photography, ceramics, dance, music and more.
This event is free and open to everyone.

Visiting Curators
David Borawski
David Borawski is an independent curator and multi-media installation artist living and working in Hartford, Connecticut.
As a curator, he has been responsible for many of the exhibitions at Real Art Ways in Hartford, presenting solo exhibitions of Howard El Yasin, Jaanika Peerna, Felandus Thames and others.
Group exhibitions for the Ely Center for Contemporary Art and the Institute Library galleries in New Haven have been mounted as well. He also initiated the Atom Space project in the Hartford area, mounting exhibitions in empty storefronts and one-off locations.

nico w. okoro is an independent arts consultant, curator, educator, and writer based in New Haven, CT. A fierce advocate for womxn artists and artists of the global majority, she works across disciplines to both broaden and deepen the canon of contemporary art, while cultivating values-driven communities of practice. nico is also a founder and principal of the bldg fund, llc; a visiting critic at the Yale School of Art; and a board member at the National Academy of Design. She is the author of Museum Metamorphosis: Cultivating Change Through Cultural Citizenship, published by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers and the American Alliance of Museums Press in 2022.

Yannae (Janai) Kemp, a seasoned and certified Health and Wellness Coach, S.E.L educator, youth education consultant, accomplished playwright, former WYBC radio personality, acclaimed activist, inspirational speaker, NLP practitioner, and a profound contemporary thinker. For more than 15 years, he has dedicated himself to serving his community. Presently, he holds the position of creator and program manager for the NXTHVN Apprentice Program, working alongside renowned artist Titus Kaphar.
Yannae will be visiting Anne Doris-Eisner, Faustin Adeniran and Elm City Dance.

Plan Your Visit
All of Erector Square’s parking lots will be open for visitor parking during Open Studios, plus an additional lot at the southwest corner of Peck and Blatchley. The parking lot for New Reach, just to the east of Erector Square on Peck Street, will also be open for visitor parking 11:00am-5:30pm.
